At the Basilica's Pope Saint John Paul II Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, the faithful come before the Blessed Sacrament to pray a Holy Hour.
The Lord wants to spend time with you. You are invited to set aside a dedicated hour and sign up to pray before Jesus Christ - truly present in the Eucharist.
You can sign up for a weekly, biweekly, or monthly Holy Hour by emailing: [email protected]
About the Pope Saint John Paul II Adoration Chapel
The altar, by its design and detail including the retabla and tabernacle, was installed to reflect the heritage of the two Basilica apse altars (St. Michael the Archangel and St. James the Less).
The kneeler, which contains a first-class relic of Pope Saint John Paul II, was used by the Holy Father during his 1995 visit to the Basilica.
Also on display is:
The chasuble (Mass Vestment) Pope Saint John Paul II wore when he celebrated Mass at Camden Yards in Baltimore in 1995.
The painting of Our Lady of Czestochowa that Pope Saint John Paul II gazed upon during adoration in the Basilica.
A beautiful bronze bust of Pope Saint John Paul II.
A bronze plaque with a powerful quotation from Pope Saint John Paul II about the importance of Eucharistic Adoration.
A Spanish-made tabernacle with a built-in luna (which safely holds and displays the Sacred Host) is the jewel of the Adoration Chapel. On the outside door of the tabernacle is a custom-made enamel painting depicting Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament. Engraved in the base of of the tabernacle is Pope Saint John Paul II’s papal motto, TOTUS TUUS (All Yours).
Parking Street parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please pay attention to all Baltimore City Parking signs, as they differ on every street. The Franklin Street Garage (15 W. Franklin Street Baltimore, MD 21201) is available for an hourly fee. Unfortunately, the Basilica does not have dedicated parking access.
Adoration Pro
The Basilica uses AdorationPro for scheduling and messaging adorers. We ask that all adorers wanting access to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel be signed up through AdorationPro as a scheduled adorer and/or a substitute.
Access to Perpetual Adoration Chapel The entrance to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel is on the East Side of the Basilica. The door to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel can only be opened with the access code for the keypad. This access code is updated on a regular basis and sent to adorers using AdorationPro. When the Basilica is closed, you can access the main grounds to the Basilica through the gates on either Cathedral Street or Mulberry Street. The code to the gates is the same as the Adoration entrance. Then, simply follow the walkway to the Adoration Chapel entrance.
